I’m a recruiter and often times I wonder what version of the candidate I’m seeing. And then to think what version of myself is showing up for my daughter verses my colleagues is intriguing. Great piece to inspire self reflection!
It’s interesting how different parts of us show up when we’re managing expectations. It’s a fine line to walk when you’re in a room with people who know very different sides of you.
This made me wonder how often we don’t even realize we’re performing. I spent a lot of my life trying to fit in, and eventually you can’t tell where adapting ends and you begin. I choose to showcase the parts of me that I think ppl will love. I do it naturally now…such a great read Sydney! Thanks for writing!
I catch myself doing that too! While I’d love to say I’m always my authentic self, I want to fit in. And sometimes I don’t realize I’ve put on an act until I feel the pressure to live up to it.
